Picture this: 2016, a film festival in Sharjah, in the Emirates. Two creative souls—one Portuguese Film director and one German FX wizard—cross paths. Little did we know, we had been living just a stone’s throw away from each other in London without ever meeting. After an unforgettable week of laughter, film geekery, and prancing in the desert, we said our goodbyes, thinking the distance (Sebastian in Frankfurt, Laura bouncing between Lisbon and London) was too much. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

Six months later, after countless texts and a growing realization that “just friends” wasn’t quite accurate, we met in Cologne to see where this spark would lead. One weekend together sealed the deal. Fast forward a month, Laura was meeting all of Sebastian’s family. Not long after, we were navigating the challenges (and quirks) of a long-distance relationship. By October 2017, we’d packed our bags and moved in together in a tiny apartment in Brixton—an adventure in itself. Our place was small, freezing cold in the winter (no heater!), and sweltering in the summer. When we first moved in, the apartment had nothing—just a mattress, barely any furniture, and we slept in three layers of clothes, beanies, covered by bath towels just to keep warm. Despite the challenges, those four years were some of our best, full of unforgettable moments and friendships that will last a lifetime.

In 2021, the plot thickened. Sebastian got an exciting job opportunity in Montreal, and we decided to take the plunge, even though neither of us knew much about Canada beyond maple syrup and moose. In a space of two months, we had packed our lives in London and embarked on a new adventure where we made some wonderful friends among the snow. After a year, Montreal didn’t feel quite right, so we packed up again and headed west all the way to Vancouver. Nearly two years later, and even though Laura's job takes her to work abroad every now and again, we’ve found a home here surrounded by mountains, rainforest, ocean views, and dear friends.

In April 2024, we planned a trip to Vancouver Island, not knowing it would mark the beginning of our next adventure. On a day when it was raining cats and dogs, we hiked to a secret waterfall. Everyone else had left the beach due to the storm, leaving us to embrace the moment alone. After an hour trying to open a rock with another rock (we were convinced there was a fossil inside), we finally found the waterfall. Deep in the rainforest, in the middle of a stream, Sebastian got down on one knee and asked the question. It was a complete surprise—for both of us! Sebastian hadn’t planned to propose. He blames it on the solar eclipse, planet alignment and mercury retrograde coupled with a cinematic waterfall - who could resist? So, proposal happens and Laura's great response: Are you sure?!

We’re self-proclaimed nerds with a passion for film and TV. Whether we’re binge-watching new shows or brainstorming story ideas, storytelling is at the core of who we are. We’re also adventurous foodies, constantly on the lookout for local markets, unique flavors, and new restaurants (Asian cuisine holds a special place in our hearts).

Travel connects us, whether we’re exploring a new destination together or jetting off solo for work. Our hearts are truly everywhere, meeting friends and family all over the world, and every place feels like home because of the incredible people we’ve made memories with.

Our love for adventure—be it in nature, through hiking and kayaking, or discovering new corners of the world, or even just a simple trip to Costco (blame the obsession on Steffan and Manon)—keeps life exciting. At the end of the day, we’re best friends who balance the chaos of life with a healthy dose of cheesy romance (and we’re not sorry about it).
